New shareholder in CARREFOUR
Groupe Arnault and Colony Capital have this morning stated that they have taken a 9.8% stake in Carrefour. An additional 0.7% of Carrefour is held by Axon Capital, which is working in concert with Groupe Arnault and Colony Capital, the companies said. "This is a long-term strategic and industrial investment," the companies said in a statement. "Colony Capital and Groupe Arnault consider that Carrefour, a world leader in its sector, has strong growth potential. Given this outlook, the two investors intend to work in collaboration with the Halley family and management," the companies added. Carrefour is holding a board meeting today to approve full-year earnings, but it is being reported that the meeting could also lead to the dismissal of chairman Luc Vandevelde following differences with the Halley family on strategy. There are also unconfirmed reports that the Halley family is looking to sell its 13% stake.
