WAL-MART Argentina launches new format
Wal-Mart Argentina has unveiled a new format. The Changomas concept recently opened its first store in the city of Rioja. According to Ezequiel Go'mez Berard, President and CEO of Wal-Mart Argentina, the new bodega-style concept could be opened in medium-sized cities throughout the country. He noted that the new concept includes an extensive product assortment, excellent quality, the most competitive prices and strong customer services.
Changomas will be running a programme known as ‘PyME’, which will enable the promotion of products sourced from small and medium regional suppliers. In the first store in Rioja, twenty small and medium suppliers will merchandise around 100 products in a gondola located in a high-traffic part of the store.
The first Changomas unit comprises 6,500 square meters, of which 4,500 square metres will be sales area. The store sells 25,000 SKUs, including ambient, fresh, chilled, bakery, clothing, sports, household goods and electronics. Other departments include cafeteria, pharmacy and telecoms.
