WINN-DIXIE scraps trans fats
In the USA, Winn-Dixie is introducing a new oil, Mazola ZT, and customers will find healthier fried foods in the store’s deli department. Winn-Dixie is using a blend of corn and suflower oils to the fried foods found in the retailer's deli department in order to eliminate trans fat. The new cooking oil will be used for Winn-Dixie’s fried chicken, chicken tenders, drumsticks, fried turkey breast, chicken wings, catfish and catfish nuggets, and chicken breast used for chicken fillet sandwiches. Commenting on the new oils, Judy Holland, the director of consumer affairs at Winn-Dixie stated that “We know our customers want healthier options without sacrificing taste. We conducted extensive research to ensure we could deliver an excellent and very similar product to our customers while removing the unhealthy trans fats. We think this will provide the best of both worlds for our shoppers.”
