AUCHAN launches online operation in Portugal

Auchan has launched @Jumbo, its first online operation in Portugal. The retailer has invested EUR1.5 million (USD1.9 million) in this operation, which will trade under www.jumbo.pt. The online supermarket, which has been launched in the greater Lisbon area, has been developed with Microsoft and sells 15,000 items, mostly food items but also non-food. @Jumbo also offers other services such as travel agency, photo processing and tickets. The logistics of @Jumbo is based on Jumbo´s current stores and the home delivery service already in place. Customers can choose between receiving their shopping at home or picking it up from the stores.
