WAL-MART invests in DC in Brazil
The president of the Wal-Mart Brazil, Vicente Trius, has inaugurated the first stage of the modernization and expansion of the group's distribiution centre in Pirajá, Bahia. BRL32 million (USD14.8 million) is being invested in the DC that will service Bompreço, Hiper Bompreço, Sam's Club and Todo Dia stores in the region. According to Mr Trius, the investment in logistics is preparing the company for expansion of its store base in Bahia. In April 2007, Wal-Mart will inaugurates its first 'Bompreço Premium' store in Bahia, located in the Salvador shopping centre development. The 'premium' concept offers different decor, signage, products and services compared to a regular Bompreço unit.
