Carrefour has announced plans for four new hypermarkets in Saudi Arabia over the next year. According to Carrefour vice president Abdullah Ahmed, stores are planned for Jeddah, Taif, Riyadh and Madina. “The new Carrefour units, which will have huge sales area, will cater to the needs of the growing population of Saudi cities,” he said. Saudi Carrefour, a joint venture between the Al-Olayan Group and the Majid Al-Futtaim Group, plans to launch a further 20 stores across the Kingdom over the next seven years, he added.
