SPAR (AUSTRIA) FY 2006 results

  

SPAR (Austria) has reported a 9.2% rise in total group sales for 2006 to EUR7.97 billion (USD10.99 billon), mainly due to increased sales from its foreign country operations. Domestic sales rose by 4% to EUR4.66 billion (USD5.85 billion), whereas sales abroad adjusted for currency effects rose by 16.3% to EUR3.31 billion (USD 4.15 billion), therefore accounting for 41% of total group sales. Plans for 2007 are to invest EUR200 million (USD 264 million) in its home market Austria and concentrate further on the retailer’s operations in Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, Czech Republic and recently entered Croatia. Sales of ASPIAG (Austria Spar International AG) are even likely to increase to up to 50% of the group’s sales within the next four years, according to CEO Dr. Gerhard Drexel,
