ASDA to help smaller retailers in recycling

Publié le par Stéphane Jeanneteau

Speaking at an industry conference, the chief executive of Asda, Andy Bond, has offered independent retailers the use of the company’s recycling facilities. Asda is trialling a recycling scheme with independents in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, that if successful could roll out across the UK. According to Mr Bond, "When you are a small independent retailer the costs and difficulties of setting up a recycling scheme and other green initiatives can be challenging. Asda would genuinely like to offer some help. We have a very good recycling system with some spare capacity. I would like to find a way of offering that spare capacity to small retailers rather than seeing their waste go to landfill."
