AMAZON to open new UK distribution centre
Amazon has announced that it will open a 75,000 square metre distribution centre in Swansea, Wales, creating 1,200 new jobs over the next five years. The DC is to be built on a 33 acre site formerly owned by the Welsh Assembly Government at Jersey Marine, in the Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council area. Allan Lyall, Vice President of European Operations at Amazon said: “We are delighted that our fourth UK distribution centre is to be built in Wales. This new development will play an integral part in fulfilling current and future demand and we feel that the site's great location, coupled with the ability to draw from a pool of strong local talent, will make this an extremely effective and efficient operation.”
